I’ve been there! That feeling of waiting for something to shift, something new to happen, or just a little sign that you’re on the right path. Whether you’re waiting for a prayer to be answered, a new opportunity to come your way, or a season of your life to change, it’s so easy to feel stuck.
You’re doing everything you know to do, praying, hoping, maybe even working hard, and still, nothing seems to move. It can feel like you’re in this holding pattern, just waiting, waiting, waiting. It’s not fun, and it can be really frustrating.
But you know what, Waiting doesn’t mean you’re wasting time. In fact, it’s during these times that God does some of His best work in our hearts. We may not always see it in the moment, but He is doing something good, even in the quiet. And His timing, though often different from ours, is always perfect.
So, let’s take a deep breath and look at how we can hold onto grace during these waiting seasons. You don’t have to rush through this waiting period in frustration. You can be filled with peace, joy, and grace while you wait.
1. Embrace God’s Timing Over Your Own
I get it, waiting can feel like such a huge waste of time, especially when it seems like others around you are moving forward. You might even start thinking, “God, why isn’t this happening yet?” But here’s a beautiful truth from Ecclesiastes 3:11:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
God isn’t in a rush, and neither should we be. I know, it sounds so simple, but God’s timing is always better than ours. He sees the bigger picture, the one we can’t see right now. And the waiting? It’s part of His perfect plan.
Think about the story of Abraham and Sarah, they waited decades for a child. Decades! Yet God’s timing brought about a miracle when it seemed impossible. If you’re feeling like your waiting is in vain, trust that God is at work in the unseen, weaving things together in ways that are beyond our understanding.
2. Find Peace in Trusting God’s Plan
When you’re in a season of waiting, it’s easy to start feeling insecure, anxious, or worried. But I want you to remember: God has a plan for you. He’s not just sitting by idly. He is working, even when you can’t see the results yet.
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
I want you to let those words soak in. When you’re in a waiting season, it might feel like you’re wandering, but you’re not. God has plans to prosper you. He has a hope for you. And that future? It’s filled with good things—good things that He is preparing for you, even as you wait.
So, what do we do in the meantime? We trust. Trusting isn’t about sitting back and doing nothing, it’s about knowing that God is already working behind the scenes, orchestrating everything for your good. Trust is active. It’s a choice to believe that God’s plans for you are better than your own, even when you can’t see it right now.
3. Be Grace-Filled in the Wait
And trust me I totally get it, waiting can be hard. And it can feel like you’re not accomplishing anything. But God is molding your character, you are growing, learning, and being refined. So, be kind to yourself during this time. It’s easy to fall into self-criticism or comparison, thinking you should be further along or doing more. But what if, right where you are, God is teaching you something beautiful?
Romans 8:28 reminds us:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
This waiting, even though it’s uncomfortable, is part of your story. It’s part of God’s good plan for you. While you’re waiting, He’s at work inside of you, shaping you into the woman He created you to be.
So, during the waiting, offer yourself grace. Give yourself room to grow. Allow God’s peace to fill you as you trust in His good timing and perfect plan.
4. Use the Waiting Time to Draw Closer to God
One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself during a season of waiting is time with God. Sometimes the reason we’re frustrated in the wait is because we’re looking for the answer to come from places other than Him. But when we press in and spend time in prayer, in His Word, and in worship, we begin to understand His heart and His ways.
In those quiet moments of prayer or in reading a scripture that speaks to your soul, you’ll find that you’re not just waiting for an answer, you’re being drawn closer to the One who loves you. And when you’re close to Him, the wait becomes a little bit sweeter. Your trust deepens, and your faith grows.
5. Keep Your Eyes on the Bigger Picture
The best part about trusting God in the waiting is knowing that it’s never about just the outcome, it’s about the journey. God is refining you through the waiting. He’s building your faith, your resilience, and your ability to trust. And when you finally see the fruit of this season, you’ll realize how much more beautiful it is because it was God’s perfect timing.
So, how do you stay encouraged? You stay close to Him. You lean on His promises. You remember that He is good and that everything He does is for your good.
Final Thought
The waiting doesn’t have to be a place of frustration, it can be a place of grace. You don’t need to rush ahead or try to force things to happen on your timeline. Trust in God’s perfect timing. Rest in His promises. Embrace the process, because in this season, God is preparing you for something bigger and more beautiful than you could imagine.
You are not stuck. You are in the hands of the One who knows the plans He has for you, and trust me, His plans are always worth the wait.
With grace,
Julie
